Also, when I had the stem removed - no air escaped through the stem.
To me, this indicates my stem may be clogged up.
I was going to try and clean it out tomorrow but wanted to run it by the trust first.
Maybe the cause is slime or some such (?)
I was going to try poking a stiff wire through it first to see if it did anything.
Thoughts?

If you were near by I would say bring the wheel over and we can take the tire off and see what the problem is. Looks like you need a new tire anyway.
