Honestly Scott, I love the fact that the bike is a bit of a beater, I've been using it to go into Boston to see movies and being a tad rough around the edges cosmetically, that, a lock and parking in front of a nice restaurant, I feel confident it will be there when I come back. That said, it gets so many waves and thumbs ups and "nice bikes."
But yes, I am definitely enjoying fixing all the little things and making the bike my very own. OCD can be a lot of fun.
Only thing left to do on it is get red mirrors. And maybe clear all the carbon fiber this winter. It is so much fun to ride!
