The boss's wife put me to work yesterday. We have had a doggie door since we moved in. It is way bigger than we need for just dachshunds, but it was already there. We had to replace it once before because the flap material gets stiff, and doe not seal up very well.
She bought a entire new unit, so remove the old one, and install the new model, but wait, it is 1/2 inch wider. So out comes the sawsall, and lots of sweating and cussing. Finally got it wide enough to fit the new one in place, and what a mess it makes.
I left the cleanup to the cleanup crew.
The wird part is the old flap was rather opaque and the new one is very clear. Now we can see the sidewalk and the yard just outside. Since both dogs get really lazy in cold or wet weather, they often use the yard right outside the door to pee. The grass can't handle that much pee, so it is not the best grass there.
