You have to have a valid reason for a permit as a civilian

sports shooter (Model9) , match shooting, clay pigeon, bolt guns, 22 pistol

limited formalities, must be part of a shooting federation, do 12 shoots a year and medical cert by your GP. do minor theoretical exam.. do practical exam per class you shoot in. (pistol/revolver / rifle/ shotgun/ blackpowder)

Hunting , bolt guns, shotguns.. must be part of a hunting federation and do exams for hunting regulations... not easy.. takes studying..

Recreational shooting permit (Model4): member of shooting club
do handling exam and stupid test with the cops
Semi rifles , pistols revolvers, shotguns, lever guns, anything except semi auto

most do the Model 9 requirements, then request Model 4 permit
Because the model 9 makes for less paperwork on model 4 requests.

Collector
Anybody who has already a number of weapons in above systems
Can request a collector license.
But.. it has to be a narrow theme.. for instance "Vietnam war
Within that theme.. anything goes.. including full rock and roll
However, you can't really shoot em much, just for a function check.. and there are no ranges with full auto you can go anyways.

Collectors don't need permits, they maintain a ledger.. and are subject to very frequent inspections by the cops.

In all of the above scenarios
Weapons must be stored away from ammo
Either with parts removed to prevent instant use
or stored in a gun safe
no magazines loaded
no ammo near
You house must be suitably safe, locked doors, no ladders or tools for burglary laying around (they actually mention that on issue.. because I'm sure some tards need to be told)

In recent year they got more serious , the village copy (she's nice , likes kitty cats, all good) had to come check my house.
Showed her the safe imma bedroom where guns are kept
showed her my garage where ammo is kept.

That's the ideal scenario for them.. Mostly because they want to avoid readily available guns and ammo in heated family matters or with kids playing with guns
In my case no issue, I don't have wife or kids.

Main thing even just hinting at any need for self defence .. forget it, you wont get a permit.

Genuine self protection :
Those very few people who have a genuine threat, jewelers, people in weird lines of work... They can get a carry license...

But it has to be a serious threat.. Work related, not just because somebody on the internet called you a poopoo head...

Now obviously.. theory and practice may differ.. some do keep their gun in a safe that is only 1 number rotation from opening
and keister a loaded mag of .45 just in case they get jumped.
But hey.. who would know.. right?
