the adjsutment is actually under the latch.But i thibk yours it too tight-which basicaly moes the level too far..play with it til you get the same as on my 911 i have showed you and yes lose those two upper bolts, a little andclose the hood (not all the wa) so it can alighn with the bottom...after adjust the upper pin...
