We used to have one at the ski area now known as Mtn. Creek. However, it was far more primitive and didn't last long due to injuries.
It was not on rails. It was a very long concrete half pipe sunk into the ground. You rode on a sled that looked like an auto mechanic's creeper that had a brake lever. By brake I mean a brake that simply dragged on the ground.
Too many people got ejected at high speed incurring some serious injuries. The worst were the ones that landed on the concrete half pipe and continued to slide.
