When people ask me why I don't abandon tracking my classic for a more modern track weapon, my response is the same: "Anyone can go fast in a modern car (stability controls, electronic nanny's, etc,.) but not everyone can drive fast in a slow car. Which one do you think is more fun to drive? "
Right on, man. I've had more modern cars on track and yes, they're faster and it's easier to extract the most from their potential, but the old 911 with the wibbly-wobbly chassis and fat sidewalled tires is way more fun as it scrubs its way hither and thither across the track.
