Wow, thanks everyone for your directions. There were 5 brackets on the upper hood held on with H5 allen bolts just like the 5 holding the down side. I took off the 8 mm bolts holding the A/C radiator and let it droop. Key is placing a big blanket over the engine to catch anything small. Whale tail weighs more than I thought. I positioned the engine cover so it was level so the tail wouldn’t get away from me. There is always a surprise. After removing the whale tail I see that the gasket that I am replacing is held on the sides by 2 rivets on each side. Easily drilled out.
Good news. No bleeding and no scratches on the paint.
