I was really lucky in my old house. It was built in the early 1950s but every man that lived there before me was a Mr. Fix-it. The workbench in my garage now is one I unbolted from the wall in the garage at that house. So I have had it since 1982. The house had been upgraded to central heat and air. I added a 200 Amp breaker box instead of the 80 Amp.
One of the former residents must have been a concrete contractor. It had the only double wide driveway in the neighborhood. A huge concrete pad under the neat back porch that was added on. The chain link fence in the back yard around the premier of the house was all set in concrete, and it had a concrete pad for the storage building.
I liked that old house, but I am glad I sold it after getting married. It has turned into an Asian and Mexican neighborhood. Lots of rentals and the neighborhood is not nearly as nice as it was before. Lots of poorly maintained houses now, typical rentals.
