After fussing with the latch…it seems like there was too much play in the receptacle…even when I adjusted the cable tension, the crescent moon element didn’t seem to properly clear the hole enough. Ended up buying a new one from our host and having it installed…problem fixed. Thank you for the assistance. As always, it is good to get alternative perspectives from the group.
