Since I have this narrowing on both left and right, I used a hydraulic 'spreader' to move the inner fender (apron) out. All that happened was when I bolted up the fender it pulled the apron to the fender and I had the same gap again.
It almost seems like an issue with the way the fenders were stamped out and at that point there is a narrowing or deviation from a straight line.
I need another fender to put on just to confirm where the problem really is.
