Thank you for posting this new tank option, I installed the “no swirl pot or baffling” Dansk fuel tank option on my track 911 in 2021 and suffered myriad costly challenges.
First, wasting many hours sourcing the correct parts to fit an external filter strainer to protect the pump.
Second, and this was very costly, destroyed my fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator ($750) and fuel damper($750) by failing to get all the sealant out of the tank.
Third, fuel starvation on track despite carrying a heavier fuel load both with and without the extra fuel strainer hose (which certainly doesn’t help get fuel to the pump).
So after more hours contemplating a a costly 2nd pump in a surge tank in the smugglers box, I opted to just pull the tank I had, order the model with the swirl to and do this all over again. It’s the most frustrating but the simplest solution.
This time I’m letting the tank soak in white vinegar, and it appears to be pulling the sealant off the inside of the tank. I’ll try to upload photos. Then I’ll neutralize it with baking soda and water, rinse it with alcohol to pull the water out, then run Delphi FC01 through it.
Hopefully that gets it all.
In addition, I decided to shoot the tank with three coats of black Dupli-Color Trucck Bed coating — it does a great job of creating the thick, rough coating. I think you can then hit it with any gray stone guard if you want the factory color. For this car, I’ll just leave it black and think this will provide better protection and sound deadening then the Por15 Rust Protectant and then Wurth Stone Guard in Gray I used on the first tank.
