I’m not doing a “factory original” restoration or trying to win any concours trophies. To me its “former glory” would be returning it to its heyday, when I autocrossed the wheels off of it and generally drove it like I stole it. It needs paint for sure.

Very cool backstory. I hope it does not take you years to complete (will be watching the thread) and that it brings you many more years of joy.

My Father-in-law has an old car that he's been working on for many years (forget exactly what it is...something American). It's a convertible that he wants to just putz around in with "his girlfriend" (wife of 50+ years) to enjoy their retirement. Keeps running into one problem or another...last thing was a bunch of drywall that the shop had stored above the car's bay (why?) fell on it. Before that, it was "done" but it blew the entire fuse box when they started it. Been a litany of problems...hopefully, your project is much smoother.
