The Chrysler A57 Multibank, comprised of five 6-cylinder inline engines joined onto to a common output shaft. This engine powered the M4A4 Sherman. All in, it had 30 cylinders, 30 spark plugs, displaced 20.5 litres (1,253 cu in) and weighed over 2.5 tons. Total output was 450 hp and 1,440 Nm (1,000 lb ft) of torque.
Despite its complexity, the A57 was actually a very reliable engine. However, due to its large size, the M4A4 Sherman had a slightly longer hull to accommodate it.
