I think I'm OK: just tore off and threw away the worn out Gatorskins off that Specialized Tarmac I bought. Ditched even the small saddle bag. Haven't used a helmet mirror in years. And I keep a fresh rotating selection of jerseys (never bibs) in the closet!
Just got back from a 90-minute shakedown run on my new gravel bike. Fun! Lots to learn. Single-speed 32x18 ... what the ..... ?????? (I normally ride a 53x16-18 on the road bikes). No way this is going to work. Well, because of the ginormous 29er tire circumference, that gearing is not bad on gently rolling gravel. Modifications already underway - mainly drop bars for now. DO NOT LIKE the straight bars and short-short stem. Steering too quick and twitchy, hand position uncomfortable, yadayada.
