From my limited understanding the grid passes are for "VIPs" and they are supposed to be there as mega fans. And Martin Brundle has said before that anyone in the grid is supposed to be available for interviews. Serna Williams security blocked Martin one time. Evidently the powers that hand out the VIP grid passes explained to her, she is to submit to interviews from the press and part of why they are even allowed on the grid is their celebrity helps promote the F1 race. So to refuse to interview is a bad act.
That is just my very limited understanding. I may be way off base, but that is what Martin Brundle has said.
