LAKE BAIKAL AND ITS "FLOATING ROCKS"
Nature can gift us stunning images. Russia, more precisely, Lake Baikal in Siberia.
Here you can see the rocks rising on the icy surface of the lake. No makeup, no magic, but real science!
The stones are first pushed - by strong winds - to the icy surface of the lake and then warmed by sunlight. The surface beneath the rocks melts slightly - only a small area of contact remains, keeping the rock suspended above the lake.
This phenomenon is called "Baikal Zen".
