On Thanksgiving Day, as I was performing my morning ritual of browsing the classifieds ahead of an expected day of working on my motorcycles, what do I spy.......but a CL ad for an '83 VF750 for sale in Daytona.
Not just any VF750. This one is a Euro. The most prominent differences between it and the US version is the gold anodized wheels and the red trim. The speedometer is in KM's too. I think there are a few other differences but haven't had time to research those yet.
The ad was a day old but fortunately the seller responded to my email asking for him to call me and after a few basic questions about the bike, I got directions, grabbed some cash, hooked up my trailer, and headed up there.
All went OK and the bike is here at my place now awaiting it's awakening.
The seller bought her new in Germany and raced in AMA for one year. It was then registered in the US (Rhode Island). Unfortunately he didn't have the title for it so I have some paperwork ahead of me to get her titled and registered in my name, which I intend to do tomorrow.
Mileage is approx 9.5 K. Also it hasn't been run for at least 3-4 years, so I have some work to do to get her back on the road.
Overall it's it great condition. All the fairings are there along with a few scratches and such but nothing major. Pretty much original except the goofy turn signals and the windscreen is also aftermarket - but I kinda like it.
The lock is also missing on the rear cowl that unlatches the seat but you can do that with your finger for now and I will eventually get a lock back in there.
I have the keys for all the other locks, thankfully.
Also no center stand. Probably removed for racing like the blinkers and never re-installed.
I'm super stoked at this acquisition and can't wait to get her going again!
And for those interest.....I paid $2,500.
