I have a 2011 E90 N55 and the analog temp gauge is not reading temps.

I am working through typical issues with this 140K car.

Replaced the valve cover gasket, alternator, radiator.

To try and fix temp problem I replaced the sensor on the front of the oil filter but this did not fix it. I read this is simply a switch in any event. From some research I saw this may be a sensor on the oil pan and it is common to see it fail, or stop sending if the car sees severe weather driving like driving in snow. I read replacement requires draining the oil. Car runs well otherwise.

Again this is the analog temp gauge on the dash.
