And maybe I'm overthinking this. I know there is debate about whether or not the Targa is less rigid than the coupe. My impression (after driving mine a bunch) is that it is. I feel like I can get a bit of undesirable flex in my car (and that's with a 2.7...).

Yes the targa is a flex flyer with no where near the rigidity of the coupe, but it was not meant to, it is what it is. Short of fabricating and welding something into the car that would intrude on the available space we have, ie the back seat area, I don't think there is anything we are willing to give up to achieve that.
