Well, this took a while to resolve.
Election kept getting delayed because the original developer could not own any land in the community.
We kept finding little parcels here and there that needed to be dealt with, ownership turned over to the community.
There were two parcels in particular on the outer edges that were a big deal, they had natural gas wells on them.
In TX / resource rich areas there are two types of ownership, what you can see meaning above ground and what you can't see, whats below ground. So you can own property but not own the mineral rights for what is under it. You can own both but it's very expensive.
So the question was, if the developer hands that property over do the mineral rights transfer, does the community get the money, and if not who is liable if one of them, which is next to the track for the Middle School, blows up and levels a building full of kids?
We got it all sorted and election results were tonight.
I got elected.
Not entirely sure congratulations are in order but we did keep the crazy Karen's off the board so whatever shyte will be coming my way is worth it.
And yes, I'm already drinking and not in a celebratory way.
