I posted before about an original owner Mustang that I got running for my son in laws family in preparation to sell. Well, the original VIN on all of the paperwork was a C code car. 289, 2 barrel. The fender apron stampings, including the hidden one and the repro door tag had A code vins. There were also 2 titles it turns out. The original was the C code VIN and a later title after a restoration was A code. It was a mess. The engine/carb combo was C code. Nobody in the family knew the history well enough to know what happened. Were the fender aprons replaced during the resto and restamped? Was the car originally an A code when delivered to the dealer but the engine was swapped to another car? Long story short, a dealer bought the car and said he would "take care" of the VIN issues prior to him selling.
