Yep. Lots of folks poo poo bark collars. I've shocked myself with one before (gotta test it to see what it's like, and have used it one dogs before. They quickly learn that barking causes a surprise. It only takes a couple of times. After they've learned, they don't bark with the collar is on. I've had the collar on a dog in the past with a dead battery and not a peep. And the collars that we've used (75# GSD, 11# dachshund) had multiple levels of shock. For the one on the GSD which was a long time ago, I tried the lowest level and that didn't phase her, so I went up to level 2 and then 3 and that did the trick. For the Dachshund, you could set the initial level, and then if they kept barking it would increase the level. I think we settled on level 2 or 3 out of 9 for him. He'd still occasionally bark, but usually only once.
