Figured out the hard starting when cold was due to wrong dme temp sensor.
The torque tube is quieter but the rattle at spin down still occurs but much less so.
The engine temp goes up to half after about 15mins at idle. A bit quick I think and stage 1 of the fan comes on. Oddly the voltage increases to 13v at idle so that works well now.
