Add autofocus to that kit and you have a Contax G1/G2. You'd have to put up with Zeiss lenses, though... I shot some photos with a G2, then assembled a fairly complete G2 kit in black (much more valueable), including the little silver metal case. Film is a hassle, so I never got back to it, but I'd like to.
There really is something special about film. Sigma cameras have a more film-like Foveon sensor, but they're a little awkward. Here's a couple I took with a G2:
