There are are also gererators which run off of natural gas, and will run indefinitely.

The ice storm last year left me without power for over three days: Heat, hot water, lights, internet, fridge, the works. Thankfully my house is well insulated. Could have been worse. I was only able to cook because of a NG stove. Not an engineer but I don't think a golf cart or EV capable of pushing a small car 150 miles would hold enough power to sustain all that for very long in the middle of winter.
