I lived in Talladega, Alabama back in the mid 90s and used to go to an indoor flea market and buy Nascar diecast at a booth there from time to time. Today I rediscovered these, had them stored in a model car box.
These are 1/64 Racing Champions cars. They were removed from their blister packs and placed in the little clear cases and that is how they were when I purchased them back around 1997. The Dale Earnhardt and Michael Waltrip cars are unique in that they are Collector Series 1 and have removable rubber tires that say Racing Champions on the tires. They are dated 1990. The graphics on the Waltrip car are stickers and the Earnhardt car has tampo graphics or decals. The Harry Gant car also has stickers but it also has tampo or decals and is dated 1989. The Harry Gant car also has plastic wheels and tires but they also say Racing Champions on them as well. These are from the early days of collectable diecast and I can only assume that sponsor deals hadn't been established yet and that would explain Racing Champions on the tires and or the lack of sponsors. Keep in mind these were for kids then and they couldn't put tobacco or alcohol related product names on the cars hence the Harry Gant car #33 looking so plain as it would've had Skoal on the car as the primary sponsor.
So, today I polished up the clear boxes and cleaned up the little cars a bit. It is funny how crude these cars are as compared to how things are made now.
Here is the Waltrip car
