Ours required a compressor, both condensers, dryers etc. Basically everything in the fridge. $550
They also would have replaced the entire circuitry and ice maker had it been needed.

I don't have any specific reason, but I just have no desire to own anything LG. I don't have any specific knowledge of failures or anything, but something about it gives me a bad vibe.

We have a kitchenaid that's probably 10-12 years old, maybe 15. It's still ticking away in our garage right now. We used it for many years, then the kids had it, and then when we moved here, they said they were going to sell it so we took it back. When we remodeled we moved it to the garage and now have a new Dacor "built in" refrigerator. It's a think of beauty (it should be for what it cost, but the missus had to have it). I hope it lasts at least 5 years (we'll probably move before then, and leave the fridge in the house).

Nice! We had a fridge in this house when we bought it. It was old, probably 20-30 years old, and still ticking along. We sold it to someone cheap as an outdoor fridge. Lots of folks have told me that nothing bought today is likely to last as long.
