TWIR: 1957 - The US Army served Elvis Presley his draft notice. He was celebrating Christmas at his newly-purchased Memphis mansion, Graceland.
Presley was assigned to the 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 32d Armor, 3d Armored Division, at Ray Barracks, West Germany, where he served as an armor intelligence specialist. He served from 1958 to 1960.
