I had a thing similar to that. The original owner's name was in the service records, and one evening I did a google search, found the guys name in Britain, then sent him an email with pic's.
I didn't hear anything for a number of months then I got an email from his son. He said his dad was dying of old age but loved to hear that his first Porsche bought in 1979 was doing well. And thanked me foe making his dad happy, AND sent a couple of pic's of when the car just got home brand new from the dealers.
