5 years ago, while having my 911 tech-inspected before a track day, I was checking out another car there that was in for service: a granite green metallic over grey-green 911 coupe, with sport seats. The shop owner saw me checking it out and told me it was an original owner car. I thought it looked great in that pretty unusual spec, but didn't think more about it.

Fast forward to last fall, having just sold my 911 and feeling seller's remorse, I start perusing online ads. I came across a one-owner 1988 911 in that same spec mentioned above. Could it be? It was. I bought the car.

It had all its books and records, including the original sales invoice from Ed Byrnes Porsche in Dover, NH, that was signed by the salesman, Steve Kaplan.

When I was 13, I called that dealer and spoke to Steve, who invited me to come down and check out the cars. That was the first of several trips there, Steve was always gracious and encouraging to me as a young kid; I still have the 1988 911 model booklet he gave me on the shelf behind me as I write this. I understand he eventually moved to Florida and passed away some time ago.

Really happy to have this connection to my earliest memories of Porsches and the beginning of a lifelong passion.
