I was going to retire at 60. My boss heard the rumors and gave me a bunch of retention stock.
I stayed 2 more years then retired after that boss moved on.
Luckily, the stock vested at 62 and I just had to wait for it to mature.
Retired 6 years now and it was the best decision I ever made.
