If the crack is right in the area where you look out most of the time, yea, replace the windshield.
I contacted my insurance agent and asked if my policy covered windshield repair. He said it does, and I just scanned the receipt and sent him a PDF of it. It took a month or so and they paid the cost of the repair, and it does not count as a claim on the insurance. The pro shop I used used a special drill, and drilled a small hole, just the right depth, they injected the glue, and they had a vacuum cup to pull the glue into the crack. It made it virtually vanish.
On one road trip in my 911 I got a large star on my 911 windshield while in Utah. I found a local shop to do the repair. It is still visible, but it is low on the passenger side so not a problem.
