If you examine the head of any striking tool you'll notice the top hole is slightly bigger than the bottom hole. It's actually a slight funnel. I drum sand the head end of the handle to fit the smaller bottom hole then hack saw a crisscross on top before inserting. Insert, pack with epoxy and drive in wedges. Let it sit over night then hack saw off the excess at the top. It will never fail until you miss that piece of rebar with the head and break your new handle! 😀
