If you need to drain the fuel tank and do an inspection of the interior, this method would be your choice. Use a battery operated syphon pump and get the fuel out from the top of the gas tank. You will need to remove the fuel level sender gauge/cover and will be able to do a very good visual inspection of the gas tank interior. An endoscope camera is an optional tool to have for the inspection.
