Any body know KE jetronic well ?
I know regular cis ( ala 911 ) really well . I know just enough to be dangerous on the rest of the jetronic stuff . I can usually sort it out eventually .
I towed in a project 1990 500sl that broke down 2-3 years ago . Another shop tried to get it running.
It looks like it has new pumps , filter, and accumulator . I verified good compression on both banks, and good spark to all 8. It cranks fine .
The fuel distributor , will not spray fuel .
The cold start does inject fuel , but that will only net me an intake backfire.
I have good system pressure in the lower chamber, but the operating pressure , which is supposed to be 5.8 bar, is more like 3.6 bar.
I can feel fuel pressure up against the sensor plate when I have the pump jumpered, and I push on it, but it will not inject fuel when I depress the air flow plate .
No manual codes .
I understand the ehu is adjustable,. but I am guessing it is not going to be able to change the pressures by 2 + bar, or am I mistaken? I hate twisting screws blindly ( I would keep track of course )
Im thinking the diagphram in the fuel head is bad, or it is filled with gunk . When I lift the plate I can get a trickle out of the injector lines but no real flow , or pressure .
The car has been sitting for 3 plus years . I have clean fuel in the tank and getting clean fuel at the regulator, and fuel head .
I figured Dennis or Dan, or John has probably played with these more than I have .
I messed with it for a few hours on Monday , hoping to get back on it later this week, but everything else in the county keeps breaking down !
