I've actually bought two cars through BAT, sorta. The 356 was an RNM. I tracked the owner down a few months later through the 356 registry. He and the high bidder had a deal made verbally and then the guy dropped out of sight. We made a deal that has turned out very fair. Car is in fantastic overall shape.
The second one is a Bumblebee. I had been looking for a 914 Can Am edition on and off BAT. I was just hoping to be the high bidder so I could go look at the car, etc. I put one bid in and won it. I thought my bid was going to be below the reserve but the auction just died. Thankfully it has turned out to be a decent car. I've done a lot of work on it. Rebuilt the suspension, fuel/vacuum lines, new injectors, brakes, etc. It still needs a few things, but it made the trip to Rennsport and back last year with 3 of my buddies.
