So what? I don't like big cities either but they do have a lot to offer over BFE in some remote area.
Actually, if I were to follow your lead, I don't like small towns. I briefly lived in 2 towns of approximately 25,000 population and although I could never meet more than 1-2% of those folks, the ones I did were very provincial.
NY is one huge place and my understanding is that you live in your little space in your borough and 'visit' the rest. L.A. is huge and I've been within a 30 mile shot of downtown and Hollywood, the west side, the east side, etc., my whole life and I don't know

I know my city, and as I say in my avatar, it's the pits in general. I live in a nice sector. One zip code and I have almost everything I need. If I want to go 8 miles I can be at a marina, downtown, or the Long Beach Grand Prix.
It's the 5th largest city in CA. 64 sq miles and that's big enough. But we are connected to other cities on 3 sides so urban environment is almost 75 miles of solid city.
