This is my first venture into turbo power and converting.
Trying to understand where to take vacuum from, for things like MAP sensor and MAC valve for boost control.
Engine is a 3.0SC and is using 3.2 intake manifolds and stock throttle body.
The stock 3.2 throttle body, has 2 small nipples on the rear, below the butterfly. On the stock 3.2, these are used for fuel pressure regulator and some sort of emissions switch.
On my car, I will not be using the emissions side of things.
So with the 2 nipples, my thought was to use one to still operate the fuel press reg as well as my 3 bar MAP sensor. (would use a t piece). Then I thought I would use the second nipple, as the source for the MAC Valve.
However, some photos of generic setups I have viewed, all show the MAC valve running between the wastegate port and a nipple on the turbo compressor housing. Whilst my turbo choice (Pulsar 3076R) does not have a spot for a nipple, I imagine drilling and tapping is no big deal.
If I were to use the compressor housing, then doesn't that mean the MAC valve sees a different psi to what would be from the nipple under the butterfly?
I'm still trying to get my head around turbos...
What is the correct way to do this?
thanks in advance
Mike
