Here in earthquake country, I give my homes gas & water valve a little twist to make sure its not stuck. I drilled a hole in the gas valve actuator tab to allow a lever rod to be used by my wife.
After an earthquake I turn off my homes power and measure the voltage for a while. The 95 quake caused long term low voltage and TV's and Microwaves got killed by the dozens.
All my survival / camping gear is in the corner attic storage which will be at ground level after the big one.
