I've followed this case since I read the Times. I read where her lawyer was planning to try and shift the blame.

So, the cliffs notes are, these two were having drinks and whatever and decided to leave in tandem. He's driving in the lead and she's following. So he's doing whatever speed she has been shown to have been doing by the log in her car.

He goes through the intersection first.

Pause here for a moment.

Next, he's been said to have stopped maybe nearer the scene of the children getting hit, climbing out of his undamaged vehicle and hiding in the bushes observing. I know nothing more than that and you're reading my version of a newspaper report.

Back to her. She's shown to have been doing around 60MPH at the point of impact after possibly doing as much as 80 a couple blocks back. So 2 SUV type vehicles go blazing through the streets and through this intersection how many seconds apart? Well, a short enough time that the dude saw what happened.

The mother is at the crosswalk with 3 kids. Dude goes flying by and she steps into the crosswalk. At that point the Grossman vehicle is iminent. The mother has the hand of one child and leaps out of the way but the other 2 are left and hit.

There is no doubt in my mind that punishment isn't in order. I would like to know more about the other driver, the one that whizzed right by the mother and pulled over. Sounds to me that he got lucky. It also sounds like he contributed to this as well. Did he get a speeding ticket?

I didn't hear one way or the other.
