I doubt they are fuming, because they know the decision was not made solely with the gut (or as machismo as you say), given the analytics indicated a higher percentage for a game victory if they went for it.
When one also considers that there were no guarantees on the field goal attempts (Badgley is just 77% at the range for both potential kicks), I’m confident I’m not alone in thinking coach made the right calls and the main contribution to the loss was the abundance of missed tackles and receptions in the second half. Folks love to razz a missed kick with “you had one job”, but I can’t think of a more appropriate phrase for these second half missteps.
