My former boss has a brother, Sam, who does flowers. He has no "store", but rather does custom orders. He has a regular clientele for whom he provides flowers, including Valentine's roses. One year, he was asked to do a wedding--on Valentine's. This was one of those epic weddings where the floral bill, itself, was 6-figures. No way he could say no to that gig. But there was no way for him to service his regular customers on Feb 14 and cover this wedding at the same time.
So he thought outside the box and provided Valentine's roses to his usual customers...a week before Valentine's. The women were even more thrilled--first gal to get roses at the office or home. The husbands/boyfriends were happy their women were happy. And the flowers were cheaper (for Sam) the week before Valentine's--though he didn't charge his customers any less. Plus, he got to cover that expensive wedding. Everybody was happy. Now he provides Valentine's roses the week before Valentine's to all his customers, because everyone was so happy.
Think outside the box.
