Scout camp on the U.P. at 12i. Crew cut(almost shaved) and skeeter bites all over my near hairless head. Bumps everywhere as I react badly to skeeters. Started calling me Marblehead as it appeared that my marbles were popping out of my head. Name not only stuck but spread from scouts to school that Fall. Initially fought it but eventually just accepted it as, everybody, even the scoutmaster, called me Marblehead. I even had my mom paint a guy with a marble for a head on my canoe paddle before subsequent trips. (That was my last summer crewcut by my father)
There are still a few folks that call me Marblehead, Marble or Marbles when I see them and it has been 60 years.
