I'm not sure that I ever had a nickname. I think when I was little, my dad called me "Stevo".

I also don't think I've ever had a nickname for someone else. I occasionally call my old boss "sunshine" because he's a grumpy, negative old man, and it caught on so that other people also occasionally call him that. Most of the time folks call him by his name.. That's probably as close as I've ever come to a nickname. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I moved around a lot as a kid, so didn't really grow up in one place with one group of local people. Maybe it also has to do with the fact that the folks that I did know and get close to for 2-3 years were generally limited (a few, <5, close friends, but probably only 2 or 3 with a couple/few more folks that I wasn't that close to but were always around due to proximity).
