Allied troops (US Army 2nd Infantry Division) at the E-1 draw in the Easy Red sector of Omaha Beach in Normandy, France—7 June 1944 and now. The troops are marching past the German WN-65 casemate below, which is visible in both photos. This armoured enclosure defended the route up the Ruquet Valley to Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer.
