Have not read anywhere that the .40 is a declining caliber.
I think, just looking today that it is still number three of handgun calibers, under the .22 and 9mm
Sounds like you are just itching for a new gun. Nothing wrong with that.
Trade in probably won't get you much. I'd just buy another.
