Wandered up and into my mountain playground last Friday to assess snow loads and levels-
North Cascades highway gets closed every winter until about April at mile post 134- Ross dam trail is just a 100 or so yards from the gate.
Much much less than normal snow pack this time of year, felt like spring was kicking in- temps above freezing and just a slight dusting of snow at 2400' elevation.
Even the 6-9K peaks are looking light on snow.
Winds up at 6K and above were ripping, found a nice spot in the sun to have lunch and drink in the area.
Mountain air up there is soooo clean and tasty once the fall rain puts out the wild fires
Normally 9K + Jack mountain would be buried in snow almost down to the 1600' lake level-
