She designs and sews all of the small pieces together to make the quilt top. This is the artistic portion of the project. I load the top, the batting, and the backing onto the machine and square it up. She chooses a pattern for the quilting that compliments the design of the top, and I cause the machine to quilt that pattern onto the quilt.
