I resisted the almost unanimous city-counsel-mandated 'upgraded' water meter as long as I could.
$500 penalty plus $50/mo fine threats did me in.
They said it was the "same technology" as the old remote sender and is for "efficiency".
BS. It sends out usage continuously now instead of 3x per day.
The company proudly advertises "user profiles" and gets the data directly to distribute to the City and Homeowner's phone app.
Do they sell the citizen data? Two requests to the water department went ignored.
Water has gone up from $30/2 people with daily clothes washing and watering, a decade ago, to $50/1 person now. 3-5 times more.
My tenants were not even there most of the time so I was told.
A class-action for water rate fraud was tossed for 'no standing' because of changeover.
Meanwhile they dug up streets for all the new skyscrapers, and have a active Sec8 free subsidy program.
